I'm going for it... rewriting Jelvia: Not Human

Why I’m Rewriting and Relaunching My Jelvia: Not Human Series

This has been something I’ve been thinking about for a long time, and I’ve finally decided to act on it.

My Jelvia: Not Human series was originally written and published under the name T E Kessler. Those books have been out in the world for several years now. Some readers found them, some stayed with the series, and I learned a huge amount while writing and releasing them.

But over time, I started to feel a growing disconnect between what the books are and how they were originally presented.

The moment it really hit me was when someone I knew told me they’d bought one. Instead of feeling pleased, I winced slightly. That’s when I realised the books weren’t sitting in the world the way I wanted them to.

When I first published them, they leaned more heavily into a certain side of the genre. They were positioned in a way that suggested something more sensual, more overtly romance-led. And while there is absolutely romance in these books, it was never the only thing driving the story.

At their core, these books are about the Jelvias themselves, about what they are, where they came from, and what happens when humans are forced to live alongside something they don’t fully understand. They’re about difference, survival, and the uneasy space between fear and connection. The relationships matter, but they grow out of pressure and circumstance, not just attraction.

Somewhere along the way, that balance got lost in how the books were packaged.

So I made the decision to go back.

Not just to tweak things, but to properly rewrite them. To tighten the story, sharpen the focus, and make sure the tone and direction are consistent with what I originally intended. This isn’t about changing the heart of the series. That remains exactly the same. It’s about bringing that heart to the surface in a clearer, more honest way.

Alongside that, I’ve decided to relaunch the series under my own name, Louise Wise.

That part feels significant.

I’ve written under my own name for a while now, and it makes sense to bring this series into that space rather than keeping it separate.

Of course, this choice comes with its own challenges. It means letting go of the existing versions. It means losing the reviews and the small amount of history those books built up over time. It means starting again, in many ways, from the beginning.

But at the same time, it feels right, because what I’m working towards now is a version of this series that feels aligned.

If you’ve read Jelvia: Not Human before, you’ve already been part of this journey, and I’m incredibly grateful for that. Your support helped me get to the point where I could step back and see what needed to change.

And if you haven’t read the series yet, this relaunch will be the best place to begin. It will be the story as it was meant to be told from the start.

I’ll be sharing more as the rewrite progresses, including new covers and release details when the time comes.

For now, I just wanted to explain the decision.

Louise
